The Willy Wicket, a country pub in Bristol

We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you.

The Willy Wicket was previously Wick Wick Farm, in the ancient parish of Mangotsfield. The parish of Downend was formed in 1874. County assize records show the farm as 'Wekwicha' in 1221. 'Wic' is old English for 'dairy farm' and 'Wike' was derived from an old surnames. So this, in effect, our eccentric name really means Wick's Dairy Farm.

Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes, and we’ll be ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, fine wines and British gin to suit very taste - which will taste all the better when enjoyed either in our beautiful gardens or by our crackling log fires.

Charming country pubs in lovely locations

The Willy Wicket is a 'must do' for collectors of eccentric British pub names, cricket enthusiasts, and if you like an interesting stroll. Downend is the birthplace of beardy cricketing legend WG Grace.

Whether you’re out walking your dog or just exploring the local area, there’s always plenty to do around The Willy Wicket.
