The Spread Eagle, a country pub in Burton-Upon-Trent

We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you.

Reportedly one of the oldest buildings in Rolleston, The Spread Eagle was established in the 16th Century. Situated on the main bridge at Rolleston, the building has been used as a schoolhouse and a venue for local courts. Originally called The Mosely Arms, the building was renamed The Eagle Child, before being permanently changed to The Spread Eagle in 1851.

Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes, and we’ll be ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, fine wines and British gin to suit very taste - which will taste all the better when enjoyed either in our beautiful gardens or by our crackling log fires.

Our beautiful ancient inn sits alongside babbling Alder brook. Its gardens are a tranquil retreat from which to explore Burton's brewing heritage. Rolleston has wildlife areas including Brook Hollows, Craythorne Wood and Jinny Nature Trail.

Whether you’re out walking your dog or just exploring the local area, there’s always plenty to do around The Spread Eagle.
