A little Pub history

The Walton Arms is an impressive brick structure with tall decorated chimneys and stone mullion windows. Above the grand central entranceway is an interesting mock Tudor-style frontage which greets the visitor. Built in 1800 some fate must have befallen this mighty inn as it was rebuilt in 1875. At the turn of the century it served as a halt for horse-drawn buses.

Make a day of it

This wonderful old pub is the perfect place from which to explore the countryside and Warrington itself. In the town there’s an award-winning retail market with over 200 stalls. For fresh-air lovers, the start and end of the Cheshire Ring Canal Walk is just 400 feet from the pub’s door. Walton Hall is a nearby Grade II listed country house with magnificent gardens and a childrens’ zoo. Across the road is the Bridgewater Canal. There are two golf clubs within two miles, and the Moore Nature Reserve is equally close by.
