You could write a book about the rich history of this historic Buckinghamshire pub. Originally built on the edge of Amersham Common, it was once known as The Pineapple - possibly a reference to the West Indian fruit plantations of local landowners the Pomeroys. Many simply called it The Monkey, but this reference is far from tropical. In fact, part of the local railway line was known as monkey curve. Then again, local legend has it that the name stuck because the landlord owned a monkey! Either way, it's now "The Pomeroy Inn" once more - a local landmark and a beautiful country inn full of rustic character.
Nestled in Little Chalfont, a couple of miles south east of Aylesbury, The Pomeroy Inn sits near the chalk and beech landscape of the Chiltern Hills. Set in the heart of rural Buckinghamshire (or Midsomer Murders Country as it's known by fans of the TV series) it's ideal for scenic local walks. The pub is also close to the Roald Dahl Museum, Chiltern Open Air Museum and Benjamin Disraeli's country hideaway, Hughenden Manor.
