The Poplar Farm, a country pub in Andover

We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you.

The pub was originally two farm labourers cottages. They were brought by Charlie Bowyer and family who were builders by trade and they converted the two cottages into one. The family built a lot of houses in the area including the one next door to the pub, called the Poplar Cottage. In the 1970's the family decided they wanted to run a pub and converted their home into the Poplar Farm inn. A little while later they extended by purchasing a barn from Fyfield, dismantling it and reassembling it adjoining the pub. This area became known as the barn bar. Following a fire in 2005, the building has undergone a careful restoration. Hopefully our pub ghosts approved of our efforts and will enjoy the new building with the rest of us!

Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes, and we’ll be ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, fine wines and British gin to suit very taste - which will taste all the better when enjoyed either in our beautiful gardens or by our crackling log fires.

Charming country pubs in lovely locations

Our quaint rural inn is popular with walkers and visitors to local attractions which include the Museum of Army Flying in nearby Middle Wallop, home to a national collection of military kites gliders, planes and helicopters.

Whether you’re out walking your dog or just exploring the local area, there’s always plenty to do around The Poplar Farm.
