Welcome to The Castle
The Castle is well known in Castleton and across Derbyshire as a fine country pub. A popular pub restaurant famous for great food, we are surrounded by the spectacular Hope Valley, a haven for ramblers. There is always a warm welcome with roaring log fires, freshly prepared food, a great selection of real ales and a diverse wine menu for you to choose from.
A Little Pub History
Situated in Castleton for hundreds of years, the Castle is steeped in spooky local legends. These tales tell of no less than four spirits haunting the grounds of The Castle, including a jilted bride. An integral part of the local community, we were also a stop-off point for the Wellington Express coach, which travelled between Manchester and Sheffield in the 1800's.

Our 15 bedroom Innkeeper's Lodge continues The Castle's tradition of welcoming travellers. It's our local charm that attracts ramblers and nature enthusiasts, as well as diners and drinkers from Castleton and nearby Thornhill, Slackhall and Bradwell. We also welcome business and leisure travellers to enjoy some of the best bedrooms and accommodation in Castleton.
