About The Cunning Man

Traditional Hospitality at The Cunning Man

Of all the pubs in Burghfield Bridge, The Cunning Man is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Middlesex and the Thames Valley. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.

A Little Pub History

The pub's name comes from a local legend of a 'cunning man' - a good wizard who would help to protect people from dark spirits and witches. The original building was destroyed following repeated flooding, however the newly re-built pub-restaurant has been impressively restored in its original style - complete with thatched roof.

Around The Area

There numerous attractive walks around our pub. From our attractive gardens there is an exit directly onto the Kennet and Avon Canal towpath where one can stroll and see the narrow boats passing by.
