About The Groes Wen Inn
Traditional Hospitality at The Groes Wen Inn
Of all the pubs in Penhow, The Groes Wen Inn is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in South Wales. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.
A Little Pub History
With years of heritage, The Groes Wen Inn formerly stood as a cottage in the small village of Penhow. In 1881 the owners, Mr and Mrs Lewis, noticed the lack of public houses in the area and decided to leave their jobs as a hoop shaver and a grocer, converting the cottage into the pub that still stands today.

Around The Area
A countryside inn with good walks nearby, The Groes Wen is a tranquil spot from which to plan your adventures. Penhow Castle is nearby, and a few minutes' walk away is a signposted woodland path to Usk.
