More NewsWelcome to The Groes Wen Inn
The Groes Wen Inn is well known in Penhow and across Monmouthshire as a fine country pub. A popular pub restaurant famous for great food, we are a short distance from Penhow Castle, the oldest inhabited castle in Wales. There is always a warm welcome with roaring log fires, freshly prepared food, a great selection of real ales and a diverse wine menu for you to choose from.
A Little Pub History
With years of heritage, The Groes Wen Inn formerly stood as a cottage in the small village of Penhow. In 1881 the owners, Mr and Mrs Lewis, noticed the lack of public houses in the area and decided to leave their jobs as a hoop shaver and a grocer, converting the cottage into the pub that still stands today.
