About The Hare and Tortoise
Traditional Hospitality at The Hare and Tortoise
Of all the pubs in Doncaster, The Hare and Tortoise is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in South Yorkshire. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.
A Little Pub History
Dating back to the 1700's when it is rumoured Dick Turpin stopped here, the Hare and Tortoise adjoined an old tollhouse. In 1890 the gates were removed and the tolls were abolished, the inn was converted into a private dwelling called Rossington Bridge House. Later restored as an inn we took back the original name as a sign of our heritage.
