Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.

A Little Pub History

The inn dates back to 1678 when it was described in the deeds as a "small rectangular building". Wickford is an ancient settlement that has existed since before 975. There is evidence that the area itself was inhabited in prehistoric, Roman and Saxon times. Wickford was referred to in the Domesday Book as both Wicfort and Wincfort.

Around The Area

The Hawk is an ancient pub dating as far back as 1678 and is popular with antiques hunters. The village is home to a leading antiques centre based in an old mill with 80 dealers.
