About The Kestrel
Traditional Hospitality at The Kestrel
Of all the pubs in Harrogate, The Kestrel is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Harrogate, York and Leeds. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.
A Little Pub History
Plompton was originally owned by Eldred de Plumpton, who passed ownership of the hamlet down over seven centuries through generations of his family. Owned by private hands for so long, The Kestrel was only the second inn to open in the area.

Charming Local Accommodation
Our 10 bedroom Innkeeper's Lodge frequently welcomes travellers to the area. It's our local charm that attracts golfers and ramblers, as well as diners and drinkers from Plompton and nearby Harrogate, Spofforth and Pannal. We also welcome business and leisure travellers to enjoy some of the best bedrooms and accommodation in Plompton.
Around The Area
Our attractive inn has ample gardens and is set in the tranquil landscape surrounding Plompton Rocks, an important environmental site. Many visitors to Knaresborough Castle make a point of stopping off here for refreshment.
