About The Lion
Traditional Hospitality at The Lion
Of all the pubs in Farningham, The Lion is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Kent. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.
A Little Pub History
The Lion has been a popular spot in Farningham since the 16th Century when it was the entertainment centre of the village. Even in the 18th Century the then named Black Lyon, was the venue for all the important village meetings. Such status in the village meant that The Lion was once paid a visit by Charles Dickens whilst on a trout fishing trip.

Around The Area
The Lion is a grand and ancient country inn with pleasant riverside walks to be had along the banks of the River Darent, and the Farningham Woods Nature Reserve is well worth a visit.
