About The Old Farmhouse

Traditional Hospitality at The Old Farmhouse

Of all the pubs in Darlington, The Old Farmhouse is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in North East. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.

A Little Pub History

The Old Farmhouse has existed in Middleton St. George for over 250 years, though it surprisingly did not begin life as a farmhouse. Originally, the building was used as an inn called The Wheatsheaf, before being converted into a farmhouse by a retired sea captain. In the 1950's the building was left empty, before being converted back into a pub in the early 1980's.

Around The Area

The world's first public railway, the Stockton and Darlington Railway, passed through Middleton St George and there's an excellent museum not far from The Old Farmhouse. Durham Tees Valley Airport, previously RAF Middleton St. George, is nearby.
