About The Osprey

Traditional Hospitality at The Osprey

Of all the pubs in Newton Mearns, The Osprey is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Scotland. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.

A Little Pub History

In 1891 The Osprey was known as Over Greenlaw Farm and was worked by two sisters, Elizabeth and Mary Smith. By the time of the 1901 census, the farm was owned by a David Anderson, who lived there with his wife and eight children. It is said that the Anderson family had roamed all over southern Scotland before coming to live in the idyllic setting of Greenlaw.

Around The Area

The Osprey is near to Pollok House and the Burrell Collection of artworks, making it an ideal refreshment stop for culture vultures. Our pub is equally eye-catching and overlooks the wide expanses of Balgray Reservoir.
