The Otter is well known in Kegworth, Loughborough and across Southern Derbyshire as a fine country pub. A popular pub restaurant famous for great food, we have an ideal location on the banks of the beautiful River Soar. There is always a warm welcome with roaring log fires, freshly prepared food, a great selection of real ales and a diverse wine menu for you to choose from.
A Little Pub History
Originally known as The Navigation, a succession of inns has occupied the site where The Otter now stands since 1800. The building was renovated in 1927 when it was taken over by the Shaw family. The family was well known in the area because they rowed anglers across the river for a penny a head. Although The Otter no longer offers this service, we are still popular with diners and drinkers throughout Derbyshire for our beautiful setting and welcoming atmosphere.

It's The Otter's location, character and history that attracts visitors from across Derbyshire and neighbours from nearby towns like, Long Eaton, Loughborough and Castle Donington. We are the perfect place to stop on your way to or from Loughborough University or before departing from East Midlands Airport. We offer great food and drink, served all day every day and are a popular choice for your business meeting or lunch.
