About The Otter

Traditional Hospitality at The Otter

Of all the pubs in Kegworth, The Otter is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Derbyshire and Notts. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.

A Little Pub History

Originally known as The Navigation, a succession of inns has occupied the site where The Otter now stands since 1800. The building was renovated in 1927 when it was taken over by the Shaw family. The family was well known in the area because they rowed anglers across the river for a penny a head. Although The Otter no longer offers this service, we are still popular with diners and drinkers throughout Derbyshire and Leicestershire for our beautiful setting and welcoming atmosphere.

Around The Area

Our black and white timbered riverside inn offers the contrasting delights of peaceful canalside and riverside walks and Donington Park motor racing circuit a few miles away. Local beauty spots include the Jacobean Thrumpton Hall
