Cask-conditioned beer. As brilliant an institution as the Great British pub itself, and undoubtedly the star of this well-stocked country inn's bar. Every pint of our regularly changing real ales is lovingly kept, perfectly poured and Cask Marque accredited for quality, whether accompanying a plate of freshly cooked pub-food in front of the log-fire, or a summer's afternoon spent in our beer garden.
High Quality Brewers
George Bateman & Son
Batemans Brewery is one of the country's oldest family breweries. It is based on an old windmill, dating back two centuries and overlooks the River Steeping. Definitely one of the most picturesque of breweries producing the finest of real ales.
Everards Brewery
William Everard brewed the first pint of Everards real ale in 1849, and stated 'No effort shall be found wanting in the production and supply of genuine ale of first rate quality'. Over 150 years later, Everards Brewery is a family run company with values that echo those of William Everard.
Wine for all occasions
From easy-going to adventurous, well-rounded to robust, our carefully compiled wine list befits any mood, occasion or indeed dish from our seasonal menu. For something special, try a bottle of crisp Chablis Bouchard (Ainé et Fils), or a deliciously jammy Aussiéres Rouge from Rothschild Lafite.
Summer drinks
Fancy something different? We also offer a variety of ciders and a decent shelf of spirits. As for our non-alcoholic options, choose from a selection of imaginative soft drinks and finest pressed fruit juices, for adults as well as younger diners, plus we serve freshly brewed coffee all day.
