About The Red Deer

Traditional Hospitality at The Red Deer

Of all the pubs in Cumbernauld, The Red Deer is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Scotland. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.

A Little Local History

Much of Balloch was built in the late 20th century to accommodate growing numbers of people who wished to reside in the pleasant commuter town of Cumbernauld with easy access to Glasgow. Balloch's name comes from a farm on the Cumbernauld Estate of the Fleming family. It is a derivative of Scottish Gaelic bealach, meaning a pass in hills or mountains.

Charming Local Accommodation

Our 57 bedroom Innkeeper's Lodge continues The Red Deer's tradition of welcoming travellers. It's our local charm that attracts office staff and visitors, as well as diners and drinkers from Cumbernauld and nearby Bonny Bridge, Ballock and Croy. We also welcome business and leisure travellers to enjoy some of the best bedrooms and accommodation in Cumbernauld.

Around The Area

Our attractive inn is close to Broadward Loch - it's a 15 minute walk - so we're popular with anglers. Nearby Palacerigg Country Park is hillside farmland that has been transformed into a pleasant green oasis.
