About The Red Kite

Traditional Hospitality at The Red Kite

Of all the pubs in Wakefield, The Red Kite is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in South Yorkshire. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.

A Little Pub History

The Red Kite is to be found on the innovative Calder Park. With over 100 acres for wildlife, swans, ducks and other wildfowl are regular visitors. Wakefield is known as the capital of the Rhubarb Triangle, an area famous for its early forced rhubarb. In July 2005 a statue was erected near to the pub to celebrate this unusual claim to fame.

Around The Area

With its smart white walls and slate roof, the Red Kite is a distinctive landmark. You can enjoy a memorable meal here, and the delights of Pugneys Country Park and lakes are almost on the doorstep.
