About The Red Lion

Traditional Hospitality at The Red Lion

Of all the pubs in Dodleston, The Red Lion is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Cheshire and Staffordshire. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.

A Little Pub History

An 18th Century map suggests The Red Lion was established as far back as 1737, though then it was known as "The Red Lyon". Our quiet and peaceful history was interrupted in the autumn of 1845 when the inn became the scene of a battle between angry Irish and English farm labourers. More recently, we have won a Gold Award at the Chester Food and Drink Festival Awards 2007 and 2008.

Around The Area

Countryside walks lead from the beautiful gardens of our attractive stone pub in picturesque Dodleston. Records show the pub dates to at least 1737. Recently it won gold in the Chester Food and Drink Festival.
