A little pub history
Originally The Rose and Crown was built as a wooden shed by the Kerry family in 1786, utilised for the growing coach trade in the area. In 1935, the pub was rebuilt, set further back from the road, re-opening in 1937. The grounds cover an ancient crossroads, so watch out for ghostly highwaymen when you leave!
Make a day of it
Our pretty white-brick pub is the gateway to rural Derbyshire, and the ideal spot from which to explore the historic and contemporary delights of Derby's Cathedral Quarter. We attract many visitors to the three golf courses nearby.
