About The Swallows Return
Traditional Hospitality at The Swallows Return
Of all the pubs in Ferring, The Swallows Return is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Sussex and the Sea. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.
A Little Pub History
The Swallow's Return occupies buildings once known as North Barn, next to some important ancient track-ways which linked South Downs settlements from very early times. More recently, in the 18th century a windmill was constructed nearby and it was believed that the miller, John Oliver, used the sails of the windmill to signal smugglers.

Around The Area
Our pub is at the edge of South Downs National Park. It is a converted barn and takes its name from the many pairs of swallows that return to the farmyard to nest every summer.
