About The Thatched House
Traditional Hospitality at The Thatched House
Of all the pubs in Upminster, The Thatched House is surely the best place to make the most of our weather (come rain or shine) - with a delicious meal, a thirst quenching drink and the cherished company of family and friends. Soak up the warmest of welcomes and explore some of the most popular pub food menus in Essex. Try one of our hugely satisfying seasonal dishes with a glass of fine wine or sample a rewarding pint of our regularly changing and highly quaffable cask-conditioned real ales.
A Little Pub History
Dating back to the 19th Century, a local farmer took out a loan to purchase the building that he turned into an inn that would in turn become The Thatched House. A popular pub full of heritage, records from 1912 show that an average of 175 beer barrels a year were sold over a period of ten years, whilst bottled beers sold at a rate of 60 dozen per year.

Around The Area
Our country inn on the edge of the Green Belt has a golf course next door - yet it's only ten minutes from the Lakeside shopping centre. Walkers can reach Hornchurch Country Park along the River Ingrebourne Valley Greenway.
