The Windhover is well known in Northampton and across Northamptonshire as a fine country pub. A popular pub restaurant famous for great food, we are nestled in the Northamptonshire countryside. There is always a warm welcome with roaring log fires, freshly prepared food, a great selection of real ales and a diverse wine menu for you to choose from.
A Little Pub History
The building is on land previously known to house The Boughton Cold Store, as it was a supply depot during the Second World War. The Boughton Cold Store was built to store perishable goods like butter, cheese and margarine. These stores were built close to the railway line, to make the loading and unloading of supplies easy for the Ministry of Food.
Around the Area
Visit The Windhover after a day out at the Brampton Valley Steam Railway, which runs adjacent to the pub. In the summertime you can even take your family for a ride on Thomas The Tank Engine. It's The Windhover's location, character and history that attracts visitors from across Northamptonshire and neighbours from nearby villages like Duston Brixworth and Wootton. We are an excellent venue for guests coming to see Northampton's famous Althorpe Estate, play golf at Brampton Heath Golf Course or view other architecture around the area. Visitors to Northampton stop off for great food and drink served all day every day and we are a popular choice for your business meeting or lunch.

Our standard opening times are below but we may open earlier on certain days depending on local demand so please do call us to check if you would like to visit us before midday.
Monday to Saturday 12pm to 11pm.
Sundays 12pm to 10.30pm.
Food served all day
Monday to Saturday all day to 10pm.
Sunday all day to 9.30pm.

There is no need to book, all are welcome, just come along and we will look after you and ensure an enjoyable visit.
