The Thatched House, a country pub in Upminster

We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you.

Dating back to the 19th Century, a local farmer took out a loan to purchase the building that he turned into an inn that would in turn become The Thatched House. A popular pub full of heritage, records from 1912 show that an average of 175 beer barrels a year were sold over a period of ten years, whilst bottled beers sold at a rate of 60 dozen per year.

Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes, and we’ll be ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, fine wines and British gin to suit very taste - which will taste all the better when enjoyed either in our beautiful gardens or by our crackling log fires.

Charming country pubs in lovely locations

Our country inn on the edge of the Green Belt has a golf course next door - yet it's only ten minutes from the Lakeside shopping centre. Walkers can reach Hornchurch Country Park along the River Ingrebourne Valley Greenway.

Whether you’re out walking your dog or just exploring the local area, there’s always plenty to do around The Thatched House.
