The Castle, a country pub in Hope Valley
We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you.
Situated in Castleton for hundreds of years, the Castle is steeped in spooky local legends. These tales tell of no less than four spirits haunting the grounds of The Castle, including a jilted bride. An integral part of the local community, we were also a stop-off point for the Wellington Express coach, which travelled between Manchester and Sheffield in the 1800's.
Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes, and we’ll be ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, fine wines and British gin to suit very taste - which will taste all the better when enjoyed either in our beautiful gardens or by our crackling log fires.
Charming country pubs in lovely locations
Did you know we also have 15 beautiful bedrooms? We’re the perfect place to explore the Peak District and then after a busy day, indulge in a hearty meal in our restaurant before sinking into our comfy Hypnos beds, for pure relaxation.
A jewel set in the rolling hills of the Peak District; The Castle is a pub with rooms, making it a terrific year round base from which to explore surroundings of stunning natural beauty.
Whether you’re out walking your dog or just exploring the local area, there’s always plenty to do around The Castle.
