The Red Cow, a country pub in Leicester

We’ve got everything you need from a country pub near you.

The Red Cow started out in the 1650's as a very small inn in a row of cottages in a village near Leicester. Our name comes from an old rhyme which relates to the pub restaurant. "The old red cow, Which never did low, With coat as soft as silk. Come in, if you please, And sit down at your ease, And taste her nut brown milk".

Our menus are full of hearty favourites and country pub classics, as well as our seasonal dishes, and we’ll be ready with a well-stocked bar, including cask ales, fine wines and British gin to suit very taste - which will taste all the better when enjoyed either in our beautiful gardens or by our crackling log fires.
