At The Rose and Crown, Ilkeston, we’re deeply invested in following the UK’s example by committing to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We’ve considered our current carbon footprint and have been developing strategies that will further limit our impact on the planet.
We’ve done plenty of work so far and are proud of all we’ve achieved, but there’s still a long path ahead, with plenty more to do – and shouldn’t your favourite country views remain beautiful?
Our parent company Mitchell’s & Butlers are making small changes every day that we hope will create a positive, long-lasting effect on the planet, and we’re going to keep doing this. Sustainable choices and constant improvements, all with a focus on:
o The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2040 (Scopes 1, 2 and 3)
o Zero waste to landfill by 2030
o 50% lower food waste by 2030
o We work with FareShare and redistribute surplus food to those that need it within different communities
o We’re powered by 100% renewable electricity
o 96% of our operational waste has been successfully diverted from landfill
o We’re founding members of the Zero Carbon Forum with a commitment to reducing our emissions and developing a significant Roadmap to Net Zero
