Nestled between the towns of Keymer and Clayton, Hassocks is a charming village. It's perfect if you’re looking to get away from the bigger cities. It’s 25 minutes from Brighton via the A23 and A273 and 30 minutes from Worthing via A27.

The Friars Oak opened to serve construction workers who were building Hassocks railway station. Had it not been for the railway, Hassocks may not have even existed! The railway is just 15 minutes from The Friars Oak which connects it with Brighton, East Croydon and Haywards Heath.

There are plenty of exciting things to visit in Hassocks, before or after your visit to The Friars Oak.

Hassocks is believed to have derived from tufts of grass found in surrounding fields. Take the little ones to Washbrooks Family Farm or head to Ditchling Museum of Arts & Crafts for a day of creating.

For the wine connoisseurs among you’ve got to head to Ridgeview Wine Estate, you’re sure to find your new favourite drink here.
