Welcome to The Golden Retriever in Bracknell

There is some speculation surrounding the origin of The Golden Retriever, with the original building predating planning legislation. It is believed that the original site, which was said to be a forester’s cottage dating back to 1841, was later developed into dog kennels (hence our name!).

But over the course of the last 16 years, while keeping to the original, rustic farmhouse-style, we’ve even created our own local traditions, including our annual Ale and Music Festival. During the festive season, we also made history with the only glass bottle Christmas Tree in the county!

From delicious sandwiches to sensational light bites, as well as our fantastic pub classics and fresh roasts on Sunday, you’ll be able to enjoy a range of dining experiences in our charming country pub nestled right at the edge of the 100-acre Swinley Forest.

A country pub near you oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar. Soak up the sun in our pub beer garden, with plenty of seating, shaded tables and outdoor dining available.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most. We also have a vegan menu at The Golden Retriever in Bracknell available 6 days a week.

Located on the Nine Mile Ride, an 18th-century bridleway created for Queen Anne, the Golden Retriever is a charming thatched roof pub surrounded by countryside, near to Swinley Forest. Many of our guests visit us from nearby Ascot and Windsor.

Take a look through our offers page for a full list of delights we can currently tempt you with. Make sure to sign up to our email club to be the first to hear of any future offers.

There’s always a great reason to visit The Golden Retriever. Throughout the week we run Fixed Price Lunch and Dinner menus, and on a Friday (from 5pm) and Saturday (all day) we’ve got our fantastic Weekend Treat Menu!

Whether you fancy a hearty meal against a woodland backdrop in our spacious garden or getting cosy in our heated indoor-outdoor area with those you love the most, or even if you need catering for weddings, there’s something for everyone here at The Golden Retriever. We even have a vegan menu available 6 days a week.

Why not try some of our local beers or spirits if you’re popping in? We stock Hogs Back Brewery, Silent Pool Distillery and Bombay Sapphire Distillery to name a few.
